This
patient is an excellent example of just how wonderful
a hair transplant can look when the total number of
grafts is not limited by a patients budget. This
32 year-old young man had worn a hairpiece for 4 years.
His cost of servicing the hairpiece (with re-attachments,
repairs, hair cuts, replacements) was about $400 per
month! Over a period of 2 years, we performed 4 transplant
procedures totaling 5000 follicular unit grafts. The
front hairline alone contains 1200 single haired grafts.
Please look carefully at this video. Pause it along
the way. The entire surface of the scalp has been transplanted
no comb over or camouflage here! The patient has
never used Rogaine or Propecia. Total 5000 grafts.

This
34 year-old man had early hair loss and frontal recession.
About the same time that we performed only 800 follicular
unit grafts, we started him on Propecia therapy as well.
One year later, his hair volume has more than tripled
and the frontal hairline is one inch more anterior. Although
most of the appearance is due to the transplants, the
ability of Propecia to increase the hair shaft diameter
has added nicely to the dramatic visual impact. It is
important to appreciate that many before and after
transplant results seen on other sites,
are the result of propecia and grafts, and not grafts
alone! Total 800 grafts.

When
we started transplanting this patient 8 years ago, we
knew we had a difficult situation. He was rapidly going
bald and did not want to use Rogaine or Propecia ...and
never has. As new hair was added with each procedure,
the original hair continued to fall. Now, after 2100
follicular unit grafts, his hairline and anterior front
half of the scalp have been restored. They look better
than the before pictures, but not as dramatic
as we would have liked. There is however one big difference,
the transplanted hair is there forever, and hell
look like this till the day he dies never having
used Propecia or Rogaine. Please note the incredibly
natural hairline. Total 2100 grafts.

This
patient is unique in that he has very fine hair
almost baby-like. This type of patient presents a special
challenge because adequate density is often difficult
to achieve. In two procedures we placed a total of
2000
follicular unit grafts into the front half of his scalp
(in the area between the two black lines). Note the
irregularity with which the frontal hairline has been
created. Also note that his transition zone (the frontal
edge where one sees both hair and skin rather
than only hair or only forehead) is about 1.5
deep. This patient has told no one that he has had transplant
surgery
and no one, including his stylist has
ever suspected! He was completed before Propecia was
discovered. Total 2000 grafts.
